Message on the back cover;
The name "Santa Claus" comes from "Saint Nicholas." A real, historical figure, Saint Nicholas was the godly Bishop of Myra (in modem Turkey) in the fourth century. In his lifetime he was highly respected for his devotion to God; he is especially remembered for his generosity, love, and mercy to the poor and oppressed. Ac¬cording to one tradition, he secretly placed three bags of gold in the stockings of three destitute young girls, in order to save them from being sold into slavery. It is this event which is depicted in this icon. The feast day of Saint Nicholas is celebrated shortly before Christmas, on December 6th.

Icon from the hand of Jan Isham
